Using a TF100XE 60 Hz in a 50 Hz Environment (and Vice Versa)

The magnetic and electric readings are slightly low if you use a 60 Hz meter in a 50 Hz power region. If this is the case, multiply the magnetic or electric reading by 1.2 for the correct reading.

For example, if a Trifield meter is calibrated at 60 Hz, and it reads 10 milligauss in a 50 Hz region, the strength of the field is actually 12 milligauss.

If you use a 50 Hz meter in a 60 Hz power region, divide the magnetic or electric reading by 1.2 for the correct reading.

*For example, if a Trifield meter is calibrated at 50 Hz, and it reads 10 milligauss in a 60 Hz region, the strength of the field is actually 8.3 milligauss.

Any health effects that might result from magnetic or electric fields are not well understood yet, so the actual number read by the meter cannot be compared to any health standard. However, whether the meter is calibrated for 50 or 60 Hz, it will correctly identify where the fields are relatively higher or lower. The Radio/Microwave section is not affected by whether the meter is calibrated for 50 or 60 Hz.
